is Asbestos Found In walls?
i live in an old apartment building and there are holes in the wall in the living room due to furniture accidentally falling. How do i know if there is asbestos ? is it found in walls? What should i do about the holes? will filling them with caulking and then painting over it help? please help i’m worried.

The only way to know for sure whether this is asbestos is to have it tested. Someone needs to come out, get a sample, and take it back to a lab for analysis. If you’re renting, ask the landlord or property manager if this has ever been done. Ask for paperwork, don’t just take their word. If it hasn’t been done, you can try insisting that they perform one now.
If you don’t want to deal with your landlord, and want to try to fix the holes yourself, I would use joint compound instead of caulking. The only thing you need to worry about with asbestos is breathing the dust, so get a spray bottle and mist down the area before you start. Fill the hole with joint compound using a putty knife. Try to get as smooth a finish on it as possible before it dries, because you can’t sand it smooth afterwards on account of the dust. Then paint.
