Asbestos Pipe Wrapping

asbestos danger in loft?
how dangerous is it to work with once.I have an asbestos pipe in my loft from an old heating system that was in the house.I want to use the loft space but i have to get rid of the pipe first. It’s attached at both ends and i cant work it loose,so i was wondering if i was to wear a mask and wrap the pipe in a towel or similar then hit it with a hammer would there be any danger to me from dust as this would be the first and last time i would be working with asbestos
Bad idea.
Asbestos is nothing to mess with.
No matter how careful you think you are being, you will have problems if you do it yourself.
It will get into the air, your clothing, and possibly through the mask.
Contact a licensed Asbestos Removal company and let them deal with it.
Saving a few bucks isn’t worth it.
If you get any in your lungs, it stays there forever. It eventually leads to mesothelioma.

The landlord needs to cover his own butt. He does not want to be liable for any injury or sickness caused by the situations that he mentioned. Carefullly read the lease. He may want to add some wording to the lease that releases him from any and all liability due to the situation. This is between you and the landlord and the other tenants. Talk with him and find out what his concerns are and allow himm to amend the lease if that will solve the problem.
