Asbestos Property Damage

What if a commerical property I want to rent has asbestos?

I know the building I am looking at renting a floor in is rather old and I’m sure it is likely to contain asbestos. However, I was just wondering how that works in regard to my lease. The floor I plan on renting is unfinished and has an industrial feel. I don’t know if this could be a health risk. And, if there is any health risk, does the owner/landlord have to disclose that info or repair it? In addition, if I think there might be some water damage, does the landlord/owner have an obligation to fix this or does that specifically have to be mentioned as part of the deal? I live in Pennsylvania and any info would be very helpful.

Commercial rentals fall under entirely different rules than do residential rentals. All of these questions need to be addressed with your potential landlord. If you have concerns about asbestos, you need to have an Asbestos Removal examine same before you agree to a lease. The landlord is under no obligation to remove The Asbestos at his cost. Your option is to not rent the facility if he refuses to remove.
