Corrugated Asbestos Sheeting

is there a type of air riffle pellet that will not damage corrugated steel ?
i have a .22 air rifle and want to shoot pests in my barn however it is made out of corrugated steel and asbestos sheeting is there any type of pellet that will minimise damage
thanks for all answers
This is mostly a function of how much power your air rifle develops, rather than the type of pellet. However, to minimize penetration you would want either a wadcutter (flat nose) pellet or a hollow point pellet. You also want one of the softer lead pellets – these are the standard higher quality pellets – Beeman, RWS, Webley that sort of thing. There are more recently some harder hunting style pellets that are coated which are made from a slightly different lead alloy to make them tougher on impact and improve penetration at distance. These you want to avoid.
Also, you probably are going to be looking for a more lightweight pellet, something like a Beeman Silver Bear or H&N Match. In .22 caliber they run about 9.8 grains and 10.2 grains respectively according to the Beeman website.
Generally, because of the limit most air rifles have on generating air pressure they generate more energy and penetration with heavier pellets vs. lighter ones because the increase in speed from a lighter pellet isn’t that great past about 10 yards. At point blank it is reversed because the pellet hasn’t lost the speed yet to air resistance.
Good luck!
