home testing asbestos
What should I do if my home has tested positive for asbestos?

It depends on what “tested positive for asbestos” means.
Did an inspector detect undisturbed asbestos? If it is not releasing fibers into the air it is nothing to worry about. There are a lot of homes that have asbestos in the building materials with no problems as long as no fibers are being released into the air. If you have undisturbed asbestos and you want to really play it safe you might be able to have a contractor “encapsulate” the material, which will greatly reduce any risk. Encapsulation is generaly a lot cheaper than removal.
If your house has tested positive for airborne asbestos get a contractor in and have it removed properly. Just moving out of your house will not solve the problem, think of the next family that moves in. Once you clean up the problem, your house will probably increase in value, as you will be able to clearly verify that there are no asbestos problems at your house.
